When you look at Polyvore, Who What Wear, The Zoe Report or other on-line fashion sites, 99 times out of 100 you’ll see new styles. But in reality, putting together a day-in-day-out wardrobe rarely is done with only new purchases. Over the next few days I’m going to post outfits from my wardrobe that are a blend new and older items.
Today, let’s focus on how to update a look by adding only one new item.
I anchored this dressy outfit with a navy blue coat-dress (Talbots) that I bought in March 2015. Last year I wore it with straight-legged pants in either navy or cream. To give the outfit a 2016 slant, I paired the coat-dress with new cream-colored slacks with flared legs (Ann Taylor). Once my two main pieces were in place, accessorizing the outfit from my existing wardrobe was easy. I bought the green, pendent necklace (Kendra Scott), the deep forest green, suede shoes (French Connection) and the suede camel bag (Violetta by Mango) back in the fall. I’ve had the gold circle earrings for so long that I don’t know when or where I bought them. They’re classic, so I liked the way they polished off the overall classic look of the outfit.
The bottom line is that for a $120 pair of slacks and a little ingenuity, I’m ready to step out on the first warm day.
